5 tips for bonding with her better

I was browsing the net when I ran into this article by Laura Schaeder... I think this is so true for us women. :)

Wouldn’t it be a relief to finally understand what is happening behind her pretty eyes? Why is it, for example, that the woman in your life is serene one moment, apocalyptic the next? How can she remember details about your life you don’t even recall? And what’s with her taking everything so personally? Chalk it up to female brain chemistry. Here’s how to tailor your courtship to her cortex, hippocampus, etc.

1. Pay attention to the little things
She’ll see shades of meaning in small gestures, because significant regions of the cortex — the outer layer of a brain that conducts much of its high-level computing — are thicker in the ladies. Therefore, an off-hand comment like, “I’d rather watch the game” might say more than you meant it to. Likewise, a small act of kindness (from a kiss on the cheek to simply calling ahead to make reservations) will blow her away because she’ll consider both the gesture andthe thoughtfulness behind the gesture.

2. To keep up with her memory, take notes
It’s a scientific fact: women remember everything. The hippocampus takes up a larger percent of the female brain than the male brain, which is good to know because it’s where memories are formed. So while you remember —maybe — the day you met, she’s recorded your first flirtation, first phone call, first date, first kiss, etc. Bottom line? There’s a reason the PDA and the Google calendar were invented. Use these electronic tools to keep up with her mighty hippocampus.

Food Review: Longganisa Sorpresa's Alaminos Longganisa

I am a longganisa lover, especially those that came from the north.. Laoag, Baguio, Pangasinan, etc. What tops my list is the Alaminos' longganisa. I love the garlicky and salty taste of this links.

My grandfather is from Pangasinan, so I was exposed to the the garlicky longganisas at a young age. Some don't like this type and prefers those links with sweet taste, though. I like this because a little goes a long way.. very tasty and appetizing. When I crave for this, I usually buy at SM Supermarket during weekends. The store is lined up with small stalls catering regional specialties from all over the country every Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. And a dozen of this small longganisas cost P125. I can say that they taste like the original but overpriced. It normally costs P60-80 if you go to Pangasinan. But I understand because of of the overhead expenses like shipping, booth rental expense at SM, etc.

One day, as I was in SM North and got hungry while shopping, I scouted the Sky Garden Area and gave in to my longganisa craving temptation. I chose Longganisa Sorpresa and of course, ordered the Alaminos' type.

It is served with 2 sunny side up eggs, fried rice, 4 pcs. longganisa. I ordered coffee to pair them with. For the ambiance, it was nice. The music is not too loud that it is conducive to a working lunch. That served me right during my visit because when I eat, the place becomes my office extension. Also, It may even pass as a semi-fine dining experience. The staff are nice and friendly, too.

For the presentation, the meal and the utensils looked clean. So two thumbs up for it. I especially like the cute little bottles of condiments. Each has labels and descriptions on where the vinegars were derived. E.g. This bottle comes from coconut and undergone such and such process; another bottle came from where, it is sweet and used for such dish, etc..

The dish is nice, too. The fried rice, the eggs, the coffee. However, the longganisa was not able to catch the authentic taste. Having this particular longganisa as my favorite, I definitely know the native taste. I wasn't able to eat the 4 small pieces as I was quite disappointed with the links. But for the eggs, I ate them all. LOL.

If asked if I will return, I will give them another try but next time, I will try the other longganisas instead.

Training = Stress

I'm back... It's been a month since I last posted an entry. What kept me busy? Training with my new employer. It was a very stressful month as we were bombarded with scientific lectures and exams. Who would have known I would come at a point where I need to memorize bacteria, know about vertigo, and the likes? I have never been a Science whiz during my schooling days! But thank God, I was able to pull off this training without being eliminated. Whew! 90% passing grade for exams is no joke and it was certainly an accomplishment for me. Memorization is not my thing, though.

Another thing to be grateful, I lost 2 lbs! Not much, I know... but it is definitely something. :-) During the entire training period, we were billeted in a suite in Makati. I think it worked for me that my food was regulated. Unlike when I'm at home, I can easily reach out for that extra rice. Two thumbs up for me! One for passing training and another for losing 2 lbs.

Food Review: Five Cows

Last Tuesday, my son and I went shopping at Trinoma. Before doing so, he requested for ice cream. We tried out Five Cows. Five Cows is definitely heaven for kids and those with sweet tooth! They have a wide array of ice cream choices, pizza, pasta and rice meals.

We ordered:

Bubble Gum Blast (P110)
Rocky Almond Slice (P160)

Roni Pepperoni (P195)

Subtotal is P465 and is still subject to tax and service charge. We ended up at P506.32. Pricey, right?

I like the taste of Bubble Gum Blast, but, being the chocoholic that I am more in love with the Rocky Almond Slice ice cream cake. But for the pizza, it didn’t satisfy my taste. Also, I can’t grasp their idea on their set-up. I think they want to settle on a country style feeling but it doesn’t appeal to me. Notice how modern the restaurant name is but the chairs and tables don’t go well with it. As for the service, it is okay.

Anyway, if asked if I will go back? There may be a  chance because of  their ice cream cakes..and because of the drooling look in my son's face. See below!

UP Fight

I am glad that the UP Pep Squad won the Samsung UAAP Cheerdance Competition 2010! It's nice to win back the trophy as Champion. UP may not be blessed when it comes to athletic division (e.g. basketball) but the the Pep Squad certainly had the UP FIGHT roar!

Kudos and I wish you'll bag more championship trophies ahead!

New Work, New Beginning

I just can't help but feel excited because tomorrow is Day 1 of my new work. For years, most of my jobs were involved in Sales, at other times with Customer Service. I worked as a medical representative, a call center agent, call center officer, account manager and a home-based transcriptionist. I even had part-time jobs during my college days.

To sum it up, that would mean around eight years of working. Whew! So, I guess now, you're doing the math about my age, right? LOL.

I know there is something wrong with me as I keep on getting uncontented with what I'm doing. I even researched Gemini's personality and found this. Disclaimer: It is true for me but may not be true for other fellow Geminis.

"It is difficult even for them to understand what they want to achieve. At heart they are ambitious for social position; but when obtained they have already tired of it, and are ready to go in for something else or for something totally opposite."
Source: Go To Horoscope

So, is it just me or am I only justifying this attitude. Good thing there's GirlTalk of Femalenetwork. I found this board and you might be interested. It's about fellow posters who despite their age, still do know what they want in life. You might want to check it out.

For now, I really wish that my new job is the one that I've been looking for so long. It is still with sales and I'm going back to the pharmaceutical industry. (Yey!) So, I'll keep my fingers and wish me luck to this new endeavour! ♥♥♥

Reaching up to a new me ( and down the scales)

There! I created a new page dedicated solely for my weight loss journey. I guess it's a good start, right? That way, I am able to share what I'm going through as I begin to work my way on losing the extra pounds. My post pregnancy "extra" weight is no longer an excuse. My son is 6 years old and that should be looooong gone, I know.

First off, I would like to dig further on what went wrong, err, what IS going wrong now.
1. I used to work out, and I am talking about hard core working out back in college. I jogged "almost" daily if my schedule permits and worked out three times in a week. Now, I always say I'm busy balancing work and family. (IKR?)
2. I love sweets and I'm having a big share of rice during meals as well.
3. I am not much of a veggie eater.
4. I suspect I have PCOS and I need to have a check up with my OB.

What to do?
1. Have a simple exercise stint such as Taebo for a start.
2. Buy a Jillian Michaels video as inspirted by Traveliztera
3. Eat what I like but in moderation.
4. Slowly incorporate veggies in my meal.
5. Have a talk with my OB.

For now, this is my list. I will update this as I realize what my health mistakes are alongside with the solutions that I will do to achieve my goal.

Makeup Review: Art Deco Eyeshadow Base

I am a big fan of eyeshadows but that doesn't end there. One must have a reliable and efficient eyeshadow base or primer to go with it. This goes especially for those with oily lids like mine.

I use an expensive brand to make my shadows last long but it is making a big damage to my wallet. Then, I was introduced to Art Deco Eyeshadow Base, which is actually half the price of what I have been using. So, what I did was go to the nearest drugstore and bought one.

It comes in a cute, little packaging; a small, black jar which is pleasing to the eyes. But hygiene wise, it's a no-no, since you have to dip your fingers in the jar every so often. It will be best to use a spatula or take out a small amount out and place it in your hand and work your way there.

Then came the road test. The product is creamy when applied to the eyelids but it has a slight pearl color. That goes good for my shimmery eyeshadows as it makes the color pop out, making it more pigmented. However, it doesn't go well with my matte eyeshadows if I intend to keep them that way. With the pearl color the cream comes with, my my matte eyeshadows goes out as shimmery! I don't think that would be a good idea if you're applying day makeup or one that should be used in the office.

Months after, the creamy base is no longer creamy. It hardened and became difficult to apply. It cakes up, too, at times. In short, it was no longer of use to me even if the jar is still half-full. So the price is not worth it after all since I am unable to use up the product. Will I buy again? No.

Review: ☼ Sunsilk Damage Repair ☼

Remember my previous post about receiving a free Sunsilk Damage Repair Pack last June? Well, I"m now ready to give my say on my experience with it.

I quote:
"Sunsilk has teamed up with Bobsoho Salon of London founded by Thomas Taw, famous for resuscitating damaged hair, to co-create Sunsilk's most advanced Damage Repair formulation to give back extreme smoothness and health to our damaged hair. "

This was supposed to be a 10-day hair challenge launched by Sunsilk. Pardon me if I took long before I can voice out my opinion.

As for the shampoo, I can say that it works just like any ordinary shampoo. It has a nice scent, hair feels clean after washing it. I tried using it both alone and with conditioner. When I used the shampoo alone, my hair was not easy to manage. I feel the tangles when I comb my hair. But, I can say my hair fall lessened.

But, lo and behold, I am giving two thumbs up for the conditioner. When I use the shampoo followed by the conditioner, my hair is literally silky soft. Combing or brushing is not a problem. Less tangles, if not tangle-free for my hair. Also, unlike other conditioners popular in the market, the Sunsilk Conditioner is easy to rinse. When I was working, I can't help but sometimes skip on the conditioner part because I am a sleepyhead and takes me long to pull out my bed cover. So, that's basically me rushing inside the shower when I know I'm going to be late. But, with this conditioner, I use it everyday, never thinking that it will eat a significant amount of time for my pre-work preparation.

It would have been better though if they had included the Step 3 part of the regimen, the damage repair hair treatment serum. I can't say anything about this yet because I haven't tried it.

Overall, my experience with Sunsilk Damage Repair Treatment System (shampoo + conditioner) gave me the results that I want: soft manageable hair, less hair fall, moisturized. So, will I buy again? Definitely. ☼

Bum and Gaining Weight :((((

I'm officially a bum for two weeks now and has been doing mommy duties. But, don't get me wrong, I'm still planning to work in a month's time. Just having a problem getting a helper so that I can leave my 6-year old son at home. And I'm praying hard that I'll get a great helper and land on some company, too, which I have a pending application with.

I'm having problems, though. Being home for a few days, I was eating like there's no tomorrow and I gained a lot of weight already. Sometimes, I really feel that life is unfair because I have friends who even eat more, yet they were able to maintained a literally slim bod. How I wish I could be one of them!

I'm a whopping 150-152 lbs at the moment (depending on the time of the day), and that's a BIG problem. I'm afraid this may also affect my job hunting. I've been in the Sales industry for so long and I know being physically pleasant plays a great role and my next target job involves selling, too. Right now, losing weight is at the top of my list. I will need to stick to a diet and do some physical activities amidst staying at home. So, I guess, I will also be posting updates on my journey to losing weight as well. I hope you won't mind if I keep an online diary of the my food intake? And if you can share with me some tips, too? I'm even looking at the possibility of taking diet pills as my last resort. But for now, I'll try to do it naturally.

Will the real Kim Kardashian Please Stand up?

The wax figure of Kim is totally amazing. According to imfdaily, "And “lifelike” is a bit of an understatement: when the staff at Madame Tussauds first opened the curtain, Kim stood perfectly still next to her wax look-a-like, and it took until she smiled to know exactly which was which."

On the picture, it is a total replica of Kim. How much more if we get to see the actual figure together with the real-life star?

Movie: Shut Up and Kiss Me

Last October or November, I ran into a small store/tyangge selling original Star Records VCDs/DVDs at the foot of MRT Quezon Ave. Station South bound.  Not a surprise because one of the biggest TV network was just around a corner. I found a few good finds such Aviator, Shut Up and Kiss Me, School For Seduction, etc. I know, I know, these movies were kinda not-to-date. Funny though, because I only bothered watching Aviator last year because of the nice cover.

This afternoon, I felt like watching and opened the still sealed video of Shut Up and Kiss Me. I can say it was very hilarious! The story won't happen in real life, but the plot is totally crazy. I was laughing so hard that my son kept on giving me the confused look. Oh, and the boys were hot, too! :)

Girl Talk Rocks!

There is this forum that I never fail to check out in a week. GirlTalk! I have been a member of GirlTalk since 2007 and I am still actively viewing this. I may not be much of someone who posts frequently, but I enjoy reading my sisses' posts. It can be a personal view, an advice, an ad, or anything in between. This is where I get my ideas on what blogs to read, how to apply makeup and other kikay stuff.

But GT is not exclusive for girls. I see posts from men as well. And the posts, too, doesn't cater to being kikay alone. Some topics may be about finances, marriage, techie gadgets, etc.

I want you to be part of it. Please visit GirlTalk's site, actually it's Female Network's site if I'm not mistaken. It's absolutely free. If you want to get the feel of it, may just visit the forum for a start. Here's the link.

Sunsilk Damage Repair Pack For Free

I was surprised when I received my free Sunsilk Damage Repair Pack.

I thought I would not receive it anymore. It was way back in February or March when I read Iambrigitte's blog on how to get the freebie. With that I immediately texted the service number.

My phone was stolen and I know that Sunsilk promoters can't get in touch with me anymore so I waved the idea off on receiving my package. But, hey, now it's June and I got my surprise. With that, I would like to thank Uniliver/Sunsilk for keeping true to their words. Kudos! :)

I will make a review soon on their Damage Repair line.

My Current Lemmings

Why can't girls get enough of makeup, perfumes and what nots? My answer to that question is... I don't know! Back in college up to now that I am married and have my own family, I still have a thousand in my list for the purchases that I would like to make in line with the girly stuff.

I am currently lemming for the following:
  1. Urban Decay Primer Potion
  2. Hundreds of shades of Mac pigments
  3. Obagi Skin Care Line
  4. Thousands of perfumes
  5. and the list goes on an on.
I will just update this from time to time and remove those that I have bought. I need to work out on my budget though to go get 'em!
